ofsaa cHAMPIONSHIPS - Thurs - Sat, June 5th to 7th, 2014
I have decided not to count how many hours were involved in getting to this point in our season - needless to say, given your training hours and my paperwork...at least 120 hours. If I looked at that number purely from a mathematical perspective, one might call us insane. However, I am much more inclined to look at it this way: 2 OFSAA medalists; 4 athletes with major PBs; 1 trip to the medical tent where I spent 10 minutes arguing with security to let me through; blisters, sunburns and serious heat stroke; 3 veggie trays, 3 fruit trays and 3 2-4s of water; one dinner cheque worth almost $500.00!; but most importantly, hundreds and hundreds of laughs throughout the whole weekend. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed myself this weekend despite the brutal tan lines I will spend all summer trying to fix! Thank you too all of you for a fantastic weekend! I am so, so, so proud of all of you, whether you came 3rd or 24th...or whether you just showed up to warm up, then tan and work out afterwards - you are all champions in my eyes! Truly, I travelled with 10 of the best young people in the world! CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE! :-)
Metro championships - wed & thurs, may 28th & 29th, 2014
So officially (and yes, I counted), I spent a total of 19.5 hours with you all over the past 2 days...if my counting is correct, that's more time with you, my track family, than my own personal family. And I must say, I enjoyed every minute of it! Some highlights: Jake's singing and dancing to his phone music; Teah trying to hide from "you-know-who;" my TJ crew keeping me laughing all day long; Sophia's boot; our graduates competing at their last Metros (sniff, sniff)...oh ya, and of course, the NUMEROUS PBs, season bests and OFSAA qualifiers! WELL DONE TO ALL COMPETITORS. YOU HAVE MADE US PROUD! Thank you to Teah and Alex for your photo expertise on day #1!
TDCAA Championships - tues & wed, may 20th & 21st, 2014

This was a great meet! What a way to finish our invitational season. Smashed records, PBs, smiling faces...and of course, the sun! Great work to all! Now is the time to fine tune your events and work hard on the areas that need improvement.

Hmmm, what to say... It was fantastic to be able to run on a brand new, state-of-the-art track in downtown Toronto. Hopefully next year, it will be better organized! And of course, thank you to Tim Hortons for keeping us warm and cozy!
